A day of contemporary art in North Norfolk

Phyllida Barlow: disruptor

Daisy Parris: Fist Full of Dreams at Wolterton Hall, Norfolk

Lunch and contemporary art at The Suffield Arms

Saturday 12 September 2026

A day of discovering contemporary art and delicious food in the beautiful North Norfok countryside.

Meeting in the morning in Norwich, we travel by minibus to Wolterton Hall to visit two major exhibitions from its 2026 Art & Culture programme.

disrupter is a solo exhibition of over 70 sculptures, installations and works on paper by the much-respected late British artist, Dame Phyllida Barlow curated by Wolterton’s Artistic Director and Curator, Simon Oldfield with Guest Curator Clare Lilley, set inside and outside Wolterton Hall.

Fist Full of Dreams, is a solo exhibition of new paintings by Daisy Parris, curated by Simon Oldfield with Guest Curator Gemma Rolls-Bentley, which the artist has produced in response to the house and landscape that includes her first large-scale textile installation, forming a dialogue with Barlow’s work.

Travel by minibus to The Suffield Arms for a four-course Feast Menu lunch plus welcome aperitif in the Zebra Room of this acclaimed restaurant. There will be an opportunity to explore an eclectic selection of art from Ivor Braka’s renowned collection, including works by Caragh Thuring, Darren Almond and Gerhard Richter, cheek by jowl with works by William Hogarth, Edward Burra and the Norwich School.

Independent departure by train from Gunton Station (opposite the restaurant) back to Norwich or elsewhere if you choose to stay longer.
